This space is a collection of my photography, creative work, and glimpses into my life. I am so glad you are here and interested in joining the journey.

My name is Kim Lawson, and I am the creator behind the Rugged Beauty Post. I am an artist, photographer and adventurer based in the Sierra Nevada, just outside Yosemite National Park. I am drawn to light, movement and storytelling, capturing life through my lens, paintbrush and pen. 

I have an extensive background working with Destination Marketing Organizations capturing images and developing content. My photography work has been featured by Visit California, Brand USA, Sunset Magazine, Visit Yosemite | Madera County, the Yosemite Mariposa County Tourism Bureau, Nat Geo Your Shot, Tahiti Tourisme, US News & World Report, and AFAR among others. 

The Rugged Beauty Post began with a simple moment.

One day, I opened a handwritten letter from my mom and was reminded how meaningful it feels to receive something real in the mail. We have always loved exchanging letters, and it made me wonder if I could share that same feeling with others.

Around that same time, I had stacks of artwork and photographs tucked away in dark corners of my studio. My sister suggested starting a print club, and the idea for The Rugged Beauty Post was born.

Each month, I send a thoughtfully curated collection of my artwork, photography, a handwritten letter, and occasional surprises, all inspired by the changing seasons and the quiet beauty of the natural world.

More than a collection of prints, it's an invitation to slow down, step outside, notice the beauty around you, and reconnect with the rhythms of nature.
